CCDR-LVT, CCDR-N, CCDR-Alentejo, the Autonomous Regions of the Azores and Madeira were present at the 50th General Assembly of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) that took place last week and Crete in Greece.
This participation made clear the Portuguese determination to work, in cooperation, to find strategies to overcome the current challenges that, being of a global scale, impact regionally and locally. Brexit, COVID 19 and now the War in Europe threaten the quality of life, prosperity and security of the territories gathered here territories that, gathered here, discussed the constraints and opportunities they face. Participation in debates on Cohesion, Transport, the Maritime sector, Climate, Energy and Migration allowed to identify common interests around this subjects and also to look for a convergence of efforts both in the search for the path to the green and digital transition and, in the identification of synergies for a better use of European Union funds and resources.
The CCDR LVT assumes, for a 2nd mandate between 2022 and 2024, the 1st Vice-Presidency of the Atlantic Arc Commission (CAA), which brings together the CRMP Regions bathed by this Ocean, and coordinates the Atlantic Strategy Working Group to join efforts towards a balanced territorial development.
The Ambassador of Ukraine to Greece, Sergii Shutenko, was invited and shared with emotion what his people are going through and their determination to win. The European members discussed the contribution of European regions to the reconstruction and assistance to his country and a solemn moment was dedicated to Ukraine with the hymn heard in absolute silence, by the more than 120 stand up participants in the working room.
